What We Do

Education

Mission Education is a national level programme of BRAJVANDANA Foundation, which is committed to providing basic education and healthcare to underprivileged children. BRAJVANDANA Foundation believes that whether you are addressing healthcare, poverty, population control, unemployment or human rights, there's no better place to start than in the corridors of education.

Education is both the means as well as the end to a better life; means, because it empowers an individual to earn his/her livelihood and the end because it increases one's awareness on a range of issues – from healthcare to appropriate social behavior to understanding one's rights, and in the process evolve as a better citizen.

BRAJVANDANA Foundation's educational initiatives include Pre-school [3-6 yrs], Non Formal Education [6-14 yrs non-school going], Remedial Education [6-14 yrs school going] and Bridge Course [14-18 yrs drop-outs]. It works for education for needy children who are under difficult circumstances, such as child labor, children of poorest of the parents, children inflicted and affected with HIV/AIDS, street and runaway children, children with rare disabilities, disaster struck children and slum children. Special emphasis is given on girl education and women education, so that they and their families get empowered.

Since its inception in 2002, more than 200,000 children have directly benefited from our Education NGO programme. At present, this flagship initiative of BRAJVANDANA Foundation is reaching out to 19,000 children directly through 90 projects in 21 states across India.

Healthcare

Even after decades of freedom, India is struggling to provide basic health services to its people. According to government sources, in India 45 children die every hour due to respiratory infections. 1 child dies every 2 minutes due to diarrhea. And annually, about 2 million children under 5 years of age die due to preventable diseases.

The situation calls for timely care and diagnosis which can reduce the incidence of morbidity and mortality especially among children and women.

BRAJVANDANA Health Camps is one such special initiative of BRAJVANDANA Foundation to provide healthcare services to meet the immediate health care needs of the marginalized community in remote rural areas and slums through standalone camps. Customized health camps are organized extensively across the country offering comprehensive health services – curative, preventive, pro motive and referral, to a large number of people in selected intervention areas.

Multi-disciplinary projects include gynecological, pediatric, ophthalmology and surgical services etc., whereas other interventions can be general in nature. Duration of BRAJVANDANA Health Camps vary between one day and 15 days with frequencies ranging between a month and a year.

The uniqueness of the model lies in its comprehensive approach where health promotion and prevention are given equal importance while curative care is administered.

Many organizations and institutions like Canara Bank, Crompton Greaves, Jain Conference, Blackrock, Surf Excel, Rotary Club of Delhi South, Hindalco Industries Ltd., Lafarge India Pvt. Ltd., AIIMS & Red Cross Society, Association of Obstetrics and Gynecology Delhi, Lifeline Hospital, St. Martha Hospital, Vinayak Hospital, Fullerton and Ajay Memorial Foundation have associated with BRAJVANDANA Foundation to conduct BRAJVANDANA Health Camps successfully.

Cultural Activities

With the advent of more interactions and social work, the members realized that for the betterment of the working profile of the organization, apart from the education, there should be more cultural activities introduced into remote areas in villages. Cultural Activities are a part of every child’s nurturing strategy. It is very important for a child to get involved in such activities apart from studies to strike a balance and enhance their self confidence. For this reason BRAJVANDANA introduced scope for the underprivileged in painting, dance, drama etc to enable them to bring out their hidden talent apart from the educational qualification so that they can survive in this society related to any field.

PAINTING: BRAJVANDANA provides a platform for the kids where they can fill colours of imagination and excitement on a blank sheet of paper. We provide these kids with drawing paper, pencils, erasers, water colors, paint brushes etc. The slum kids are given chance to pour their heart out on the paper and show their creativity.

DANCE: Dancing is something which relieves all tension and stress. It is one of the most entertaining activities. Young Energetic Society also provides Dance classes to these kids.

ART & CRAFT: In this section BRAJVANDANA aims at the creative aspect of the slum. This section involved making handicrafts, art of clay making and poetry recitation.

All these activities are summed up less than one heading which is exercised throughout the year and also once every year on a bigger platform i.e. BRAJVANDANA PRATIBHA: an event which comprises of these activities with a competitive scenario and the talent through every aspect on a platform which becomes a mean to the direct interaction of these kids with the outer world.
